Democracy and socialism have nothing in common but one word, equality. But notice the difference: while democracy seeks equality in liberty, socialism seeks equality in restraint and servitude.

  1. Cleisthenes instituted democracy at Athens in 508 BC. Every male citizen over 18 years was able to gather and vote on the questions of the day. Alexander The Not-So-Great put an end to all that in 322 BC.

    Elections do not constitute a democracy. We have elections instead of democracy.

    Those elected rule with regard only to their favored toadies. The rest of us are put on the “junk mail list”… to be taxed and ignored.
