Two headlines recently caught our eye. The first in the Chronicle Herald:
ACADIA TO SHUT DOWN ZINC , LEAD OPERATION.
Acadia? Zinc and lead? The Town wants to ban uranium; Is the University banning other minerals ? No, the headline inaccurately referred to the shut down of Acadian Mining Corp’s operations at Gays River (with the loss of 67 jobs sigh) . Bad headline.
We challenge you to figure out what this one means, this time from the Register.
SNOW GO WITHOUT TRAIL MUST HAVES
That took us a minute or two to digest. Reading the article on sled checks finally gave us the clue. Really bad headline.
Is this a crazy attempt to get people to read articles they otherwise would completely ignore? The newshounds are getting desperate.
In a related note –
The Globe and Mail has an Atlantic Edition , now . Competition for the CH. Might do them good. [ Although the G&M’s online version doesn’t exactly excite.]
