An election year means road work everywhere

Have you noticed how much road work they are doing this summer? Three or four times more than usual, we would guess. Everywhere you go they are paving or ripping up the road for culverts or new mains. Why do you think this is happening this year? Could it be that it is because this is an election year in municipalities all over the province? But as one visitor to the province observed to us when we suggested this, if they had been smart they would have done it LAST year, so that this summer everyone would be happy about all the new roads -“your tax dollars at work”- instead of swearing and griping about all the delays, detours, and suspension busting rough sections as we/they definitely are. But that just goes to show the quality of judgement we have in our government.
