We aren’t alone in questioning, not the spin ( that would be expected and fair play), – but the SILENCE.
At least Wudrick blog has received some kind of communication. However, we guess the rest of the taxpaying public will have to wait a bit longer for enlightenment.
The teamakers (who seem to have a much less buttoned down commentary on CBC doings than Inside CBC does ) pretend this is all a yawn. Must be tongue in cheek surely when continued antipathy by Herr Harper could spell the end of their CBC tea making.
————————————————————————————
Inside the CBC “, the official blog of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation”, is silent about the inquiry which we are told is ongoing presently within the not so glass walls of our national Liberal broadcaster. We would have expected at least a bald mention that there had been a complaint from the Conservative Party and that the CBC was self examining, but no, nada.
The Black Rod has a guess as to which CBC staffer might have been the reporter in the case. His suggestion that it was one of CBC’s Quebec cadre is a reasonable supposition given the subject of the questions. Could it be Daniel Lessard ? He certainly had the background having covered Mulroney extensively in the 80′s.
The story itself is not that new. The CBC has been trying to use Mulroney to tar Harper and they thought the wireless spectrum story would be a way to do it. This could, in some circles, be considered fair reporting. What is not appropriate is CBC’s attempted- and successful!- influence on the Ethics Committee to widen its scope beyond its mandate. Talk about unregistered lobbying!
The cbc video which originally accompanied this online story is now unavailable.[Not sure it is the same one but one is now available- see comments]
And it was unethical of the Liberals involved to go along with the CBC suggestion. Shouldn’t they be embarrassed to take marching orders from CBC reporters? Stephen Taylor has an update on continuing Conservative pressure on the Liberals to explain themselves. He also has a clip of the questions asked at the Committee session which are the subject of the debate.
Later: Regarding the identity of the reporter that the CBC Ombudsman is investigating – Ottawawatch fingers Krista Erikson in the comments at Wudrick blog.
Mark Bourrie of Ottawa Watch is right to say that Canada is becoming more and more corrupt and he cites good evidence to back up his opinion. We have noted and deplored these disturbing trends also. He says of the Mulroney/Schreiber affair:
Today, Dourque Newsbought [He means Bourque Newswatch] said only 50% of Canadians are interested in these revelations. I humbly suggest they’re the 50% who get off their asses and vote. The irony is the Conservative Party of Stephen Harper is probably the cleanest government we’ve had in 40 years.
We also agree there should be no lobbyists.

Thanks.

And the reporter is Krista Erickson.
Why would Peladeau (as Mulroney pointed out at the Ethics Committee Hearing) need him to arrange a meeting with Bernier?
